Alberta Lane's Burden of Proof

Alberta Lane's Burden of Proof
Another illustrative beer label for for the nice folks over at Alberta Lane Brewing.

This time they wanted to shift gears towards more of a film noir/pulp detective style piece. Part of the brief was that the label should feature a strong female protagonist as a major focus of the design.
Sketches

Once again we were going for an illustration focused design. And as with last time the plan was to try to incorporate a number of the label design elements into the illustrated portion of the label.

Here's some of the rough sketches I did for the project.
Our protagonist investigates a crime scene, unaware of an oncoming assailant!
A secretive meting to exchange evidence down by the port
Meeting an informant downtown
Leading the investigation of a crime scene
Final Sketch

The client was loving where this was going – particularly the 1st and 4th of these designs and asked if I could combine some of the elements of each into a new layout.

They liked the background and main detective from sketch #1 but liked the inclusion of the period cars and detectives in the background of #4. Here's how that turned out.
Final Artwork

The final sketch got the thumbs up and now it was time to knock out the artwork. We went through a couple small revisions along the way, but here's where we landed in the end.
Thanks for looking!
